Ronald Kyei Baffour is a Partner at Whitehall Advisors responsible for tax and financial services advisory. He is a corporate strategist in financial services and management with experience in investments, financial and capital markets, risk management and taxation.
He is also the head of corporate finance of a financial conglomerate which invests, organises external funding from commercial banks, DFIs, SWFs and partners with sophisticated international conglomerates to participate in Ghana’s emerging growth sectors. He previously consulted for the Ministry of Finance where he headed the Financial Markets and Innovation Unit (FMIU) to provide up-to-date research analysis, and policy notes on the financial sector and financial markets to inform policy direction and strategy for financial sector regulation.
He also spearheaded the Ministry’s Quantitative Easing (QE) programmes during the banking crisis. Ronald served as Tax Manager at Vivo Energy – Shell’s exclusive licensee in Ghana in the downstream Oil & Gas sector – advising management on the tax implication of international business transaction and the effect of proposed tax legislations and amendments on the company. He successfully managed the completion of tax audit that resulted in $1.5 million refund and countered tax authority’s deductibility challenge of approximately $20 million in group fees and brand fees deductions covering 4-year period and several tax issues.
Ronald is a Charter holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, USA; Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK; Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Certified of the Global Association of Risk Professionals Inc, USA; and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA), Ghana.
